Brittany Ferries offer a comprehensive service to a number of ports all just a short drive away: ST. MALO,  CAEN,  CHERBOURG,  ROSCOFF. You don't have to use the same route for both your outward and return crossings.

Travel tip:
Book a Commodore Class cabin and enjoy much more space, a tv with dvd player, a mini-bar fridge stocked with complementary drinks and breakfast brought to your cabin on a tray included in the cost. Also, sample the "menu buffet" in the main restaurant which will not fail to get your holiday off to a good start (child's menu also available).

Condor Ferries operate a "fast ferry" service from Poole or Weymouth to
St. Malo via the Channel Islands.

Transmanche Ferries operates from Newhaven to Dieppe and Le Havre. It's a little further to drive when you arrive in France but the crossing is only 4 hours. Prices are very competitive.

LD Lines offer a low cost basic service between Portsmouth and Le Havre. Cabins are limited so you need to book early.
